... is useless.
I went yesterday to drop off at the Lynn Haven site and it was just shocking at the trash left along the side and also dumped inside the bins.
Folks can't comprehend that you cannot recycle a lawn fertilizer just because it is made of plastic or put cardboard in the plastic bin, which all results in the load going into the dump [or incinerator!].
So I stopped after seeing this and came home and put what could have been recycled into my dumpster. Unfortunately that's my last attempt at recycling in this county. If you see recyclables in my trash you know why.
My apologies to the planet.
- This was taken from an email sent to me this morning by a colleague, voicing her frustrations about the sad state of the recycling "program" in Bay County, Florida.

First, the only reason that contaminated recycling goes to the incinerator is because the ONE person that runs the program, can't take the time to sort trash. Understandable, but still sad on so many levels.
ReplyDeleteTell your friend that Target recycles glass, plastic, etc... That's right, Target! They told me that they load the recycling on to trucks that just offloaded merchandise. Instead of returning empty, the trucks return to cities that have big recycling programs with a load of our trash. So, embrace the idea that corporations can show environmental responsibilty. Support Target by shopping there, or simply do your recycling there. Don't let an underfunded government recycling program stop you. Recycle at Target. Now, take a deep breath and go to Target with your recycling Be the change.
